one tragedy of film and modern media is that it is so much easier to express fascist and/or reactionary ideas than the complex reality of the world we live in. its so so easy to mislead and engage emotionally with a picture. a picture can make you feel like the world is ending or that a fantasy is real. a movie can make you feel national pride to a fault.
books and writing communicate the underling ideas and complexity of a thousand types of perspectives in ways that are impossible to communicate visually. i guess what I'm trying to say...
a picture is worth 1/1000th of a word.
a picture is 1000 times easier to digest in the way a cigarette ad is easier to digest than an article on lung cancer. a flag feels like it's worth more than a man's arm, an old man's life or a woman's body.

When "satire" isn't satire.
If you didn't know, the supposedly satirical Babylon Bee is labeled on the tin as "fake news you can trust" and most MAGA unironically and uncritically seem to trust it -- The Babylon Bee® 🐝 is in the business of telling stupid people that actually, they're the smartest people.
Remember that Triumph Of The Will (1935) was made for stupid people; the effect that it had and still has on that demographic is quite significant! I mean, how can you possibly hate Nazis after seeing that??? (Have you watched it? The whole thing? See what I mean???)
What you have here is an hour-and-a-half from the supposedly satirical Babylon Bee which whitewashes the Jan 6 insurrection -- not satire; just propoganda*
Why am I telling you this?
As a courtesy. And as a reminder that propaganda won't work on you _if you suspect that it's propoganda_ ... that's why it's mislabeled as satire! It's OZ the illusion vs the little man behind the curtain -- if you know or at least are critical.
* ...propaganda. A funny sounding word from the Latin metaphor of planting seed or sprout 🌱 deep in the soil 🧠 where it will grow and grow -- same linguistic root as "to propagate" ...looooong before memes, the Roman Catholic Church established what is now the longest continually operating propaganda office and press -- which has most recently given the world "Luce" (jubilee 2025) -- and is literally in the business of tricking people into thinking a particular way. Are you a Catholic? Think about that whether you are or not. A famous saying with a pun on the causal nature of "make" is that their propaganda doesn't make people stupid but that it is made for stupid people -- this saying very effectively describes the limits of what propaganda is and what it can do. (No amount of propaganda can convince a smart-enough person to do something against their self-interests that they wouldn't have already done. But you can make propaganda to make stupid-enough people believe or do *_anything_* ... literally anything. )

"We're going to show you a film now, created by Michael Jackson and it is causing a furor around some movie theaters in this country. They say among other things, that it is clearly modeled after Triumph of the Will, by Leni Riefenstahl - a Nazi film, with Nazi imagery -
Tumblr media
"That's not true. None of that is true. None of those things are true."
Tumblr media
"Did you watch that film before you did it?"
Tumblr media
"I watch everything. I love movies, I love documentaries. It had nothing to do with that at all. Absolutely not. It has nothing to do with politics, or communism, or fascism..."
Tumblr media
"The critics have said, 'It's the most boldly vainglorious self deification a pop singer ever took with a straight face -
Tumblr media
"Good! That's what I wanted. They fell into my trap. I wanted everybody's attention. It's all about love. It's people coming together."
